Giveaway Time!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Oct 12, 2022 at 08:52:03 PM

It's official! Kickstarter looooovvves us! ♥️♥️♥️

And to celebrate, I think it's high time we had ourselves a giveaway!

I've got four of these slick pouches from Creating Meraki studios (also available as an add-on) that I'm going to give away this week!

Each one is handmade featuring the Concrete Arcanum cover art, reinforced for durability and lined. Perfect for keeping your spell components safe and dry! 8 inches wide, 5.5 inches tall, and 1.75 inches deep along the bottom edge (which allows this bag to stand on its own).

All you have to do to be eligible is to have backed at a tier that includes a physical book, and to answer the question of the day!

And today that question is:

What is your favorite scary/Halloween-time movie?

Creating Meraki Studios does great work! They've also made these messenger bags and a magic circle pouch for us as well!

They're all available as add-ons! So you can either make sure to lock one in for yourself, or answer the question of the day for your chance to win!

Leave your answer in the comments below and I'll select a winner at random!

Good luck! I can't wait to see what everyone is watching!

Remember to be spooky!

But not too spooky! 🎃

Giveaway Day 2: Freddy's Revenge!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Oct 12, 2022 at 09:17:11 AM

Congratulations to backer Francesco!

Monday's giveaway winner!

He'll be getting this awesome zipper pouch from Creating Meraki Studios featuring the Concrete Arcanum cover art with his book!

It was so much fun hearing what everyone's favorite Halloween movie was yesterday! I now have quite a few new additions to my Halloween watchlist to get through! But first, chance number two to win a zipper pouch is coming right up!

Here's today's question:

What are you (or your kids) dressing as for Halloween?

Answer in the comments!

And remember, all you have to do for your chance to win is to back a tier that includes a physical book and answer the question of the day!

There are 4 more chances to win this week (it being Tuesday and all), so get in there and get it done!

Lastly, I wanted to let you know about this particular entry into Concrete Arcanum:

Olive and the Ogre  by Sarah Cooke with art by Sara Setna

Easily one of the most wholesome stories in the book, it's about a young girl named Olive who is made to feel like an outsider by her friends and teachers. But when a tear in reality allows a young ogre to enter our dimension, the two become friends and Olive learns to appreciate her own uniqueness.

Sarah's debut Kickstarter is going right now for her book No Spell Lasts Forever

All her life, Rosette has been told that her magic is dangerous -- and that it makes herdangerous. So naturally, she's come to believe the worst about herself, and about the world around her. But all that begins to change when she zeroes in on a good soul to target, Sebastian "Bash" Vélez. Bash is a police chief doing his best to fight the corruption running rampant among his officers. Rosette cooks up a plan to spend some time with him in order to corrupt him and save herself. But she's surprised when he turns out to be the first person in a very long time who sees her as more than either a menace or a weapon. Rosette begins to question everything she thought she knew about herself, and about the kind of person she truly is. But what will that mean for her bargain with the devil, and the fate of her eternal soul?

Can't wait to see what y'all are wearing for Halloween this year. I'm a little sad that KS won't let you post pictures. That's OK, though. I'll use my imagination. I'm told I'm good at that.

Be spooky!

But not too spooky 🎃

That will get you kicked out of places.

Attn: International Backers!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Oct 07, 2022 at 11:22:05 PM

So, real talk, international shipping right now?

Sucks!

I do have to laugh a little bit. I got into the Kickstarter game right as the world started going to hell. No joke. The first Kickstarter I ever ran wrapped up March 2020. Literallythe week everything started to shut down here in the states. And since then the price of doing anything has only gone up. Most of all, international shipping.

But I like to be the change I want to see in the world. SO rather than cursing the darkness, I've got a special for my international backer out there who want a physical book they can hold in their hands.

Every international backer who selects a physical book tier will be getting a bonus book FOR FREE!

Choose from Impure Blood Vol. 1,2,3 or 4, Canon of Vangel, Issue #1, or another copy of Concrete Arcanum!

So, if you're an international backer and you choose the  the $40 Physical book tier, you can get the first volume of Impure Blood at no extra cost. Choose the $65 tier that already includes two books, and you can get a third for free. Choose the Bibliophile tier... well, you get the idea.

If you're an international backer who has already selected a digital tier, no worries! You can still get in on this by adjusting your pledge.

Next, I wanted to highlight another Concrete Arcanumstory with a team member that has a live Kickstarter right now!

Turner Family Terrors: Beach Day

Story by Robert Krisch, Art by Kyle Roberts, Colors by Alex Zief, Letters by Clay Adams

The Turner family just can't seem to stay out of the way of supernatural baddies. Best describe as Hellboy meets The Simpsons, Concrete Arcanum is proud to include a one shot installment of the families much needed.. er... "vacation."

Letterer Clay Adams also has a Kickstarter going right now, and if you're a Lovecraft reader, I think you're going to want to check it out.

Dreamquest is a 48-page one-shot set in the universe of H.P. Lovecraft's Dream Cycle. What starts off as an ordinary nightmare for Margo Carter quickly turns into something more when her great-uncle Randolph appears and charges her with a mission that will take her on an odyssey out of time, and thought, where dreams and nightmares reign supreme. If you like The Sandman, and Nightmare on Elm Street, you're going to love Dreamquest.

As for me, the Halloween movie marathon continues! What are you watching?

Commissions Upgrade!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Oct 06, 2022 at 12:26:19 AM

So I did this commission at Valley Con this past weekend. It's a bit of an in joke for the Dragon Ball Z fans out there, but it made me laugh and I wanted to share it with the class.

Oh, and I whipped up a little speed-drawing video as well.

Doing commissions is one of my favorite things. People are always bringing me fun ideas. I especially love helping to bring D&D and other original characters to life!

Here are a few other's I've done recently:

So you know what? I thought it would be fun to include a speed-drawing video with every commission I get during the Concrete Arcanum Kickstarter!

That's right, everyone who backs for a commission whether a reward or add-on, will get a video of their drawing coming to life!

A little added bonus to help make it all possible!

And if you like modern fantasy stuffs, there's a good chance you like werewolves. If so, have I got a comic for you!

If you haven't heard of Rob Multari, and his Night Wolf series on Kickstarter then I don't know where you've been hiding. The latest issue of his spin-off series, Snow Paw, is currently live on Kickstarter and can I just say *mwah!*chef's kisses!

Cirilla (Cirray) MacKinlay is a strong-willed farm girl, born and raised in the Scottish Highlands during the 19th century, who dreams about a life of adventure. Upon discovering her Pureblood Monoki werewolf lineage, Cirray’s eyes are opened for the first time to the existence of Supernatural beings and creatures of Fantasy. With the aid of Silver Mane, a fellow Pureblood Monoki, Cirray must find her place in the world while training to master her lycanthropy in order to battle the Dark Covenant of the European region, led by the malevolent Mongrel Monoki, Grim Fang.

Yet another great book for the most spookiest time of year! CLICK HERE to go to the Kickstarter page!

Over 200 backers!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 03, 2022 at 02:44:00 PM

That's right! The 200 backer mark has been passed and Concrete Arcanum is just $30 away from crossing the $8000 threshold!

I've got another special add-on in the works that I can't wait to unveil this week, but first I wanted to tell you about  Old Ways, another great story in Concrete Arcanum  by Travis Gibb with Art by Elias Gambit Melendez, Letters by Jerome Gagnon.

Mythologies collide when a group of Leprechauns invade a Native American Casino. The Leprechauns enjoy a magically empowered winning streak, but the owners  wont be beaten that easily and reveal they have magic of their own.

Travis also has a Kickstarter running right now, the latest installment in his Granite State Punk series.

CLICK HERE to check it out!

Zeke has just gotten released from prison and is now living in the last place he ever wanted to be... his dead parents' house. He has for years tried to drown out every ounce of the memories of this place and his messed-up childhood.  Zeke now is forced to confront it and the revelation that his past is filled with the occult and dark magic.

If you like punk rock, witches, monsters, and historical fiction, this is the Kickstarter for you!! Perfect for this most spooky time of year!

Do you have your scary movie playlist all picked out? Cause I have! And just because I'm running a Kickstarter right now doesn't mean I'm going to let the best of all holidays pass me by!

But not too good 😉
